The COVID-19 pandemic has caused economic ruin, but it may not cost as many Australian jobs as first feared.

Until recently, Treasury was forecasting unemployment would reach 10 per cent.

Now, it's saying it will be about 8 per cent in September, when the JobKeeper wage subsidy ends.
