What is HIV? What is AIDS? What is being done to cure it? These questions sent Canadian filmmaker Brent Leung on a worldwide journey, from the highest echelons of the medical research establishment to the slums of South Africa, where death and disease are the order of the day. In this up-to-the-minute documentary, he observes that although AIDS has been front-page news for over 28 years, it is barely understood. Despite the great effort, time, and money spent, no cure is in sight. Born in 1980 (on the cusp of the epidemic), Leung reveals a research establishment in disarray, and health policy gone tragically off course. Gaining access to a remarkable array of the most prominent and influential figures in the field -- among them the co-discoverers of HIV, presidential advisors, Nobel laureates, and the Executive Director of UNAIDS, as well as survivors and activists -- his restrained approach yields surprising revelations and stunning contradictions. The HIV/AIDS story is being rewritten, and this is the first film to present the uncensored POVs of virtually all the major players -- in their own settings, in their own words. It rocks the foundation upon which all conventional wisdom regarding HIV/AIDS is based. If, as South African health advocate Pephsile Maseko remarks, "this is the beginning of a war...a war to reclaim our health," then House of Numbers could well be the opening salvo in the battle to bring sanity and clarity to an epidemic clearly gone awry.

Première World War C, the Big Picture in 90 minutes…

Pathé Tuchinscki Amsterdam was “the place to be” for anyone who wants to understand more about the “Big Picture”. A 1.5-hour documentary from Dutch soil premiered for a select group in the form of a sneak preview, framed by a colorful program, hosted by televisionhost Flavio Pasquino.

The makers

Producer Jean-Jacques van Bemmel (Docsfair) and director Belgin Inal were busy finishing the film until the last moment. In fact, Belgin was so busy that she had no time for interviews or press until the evening itself. Fortunately, we still got the talented filmmaker in front of the camera, because Sietske was persistent with the camera-shy filmmaker. We already spoke to Jean-Jacques extensively in the run-up to the sneak preview and the interview with him can be seen HERE.

Balanced story

What is perhaps most special about the documentary is that it is not an antivaxx film and actually a very balanced story. Both supporters and opponents of the policy and the vaccination strategy were given the floor, making the film accessible to a wide audience. Highly recommended to watch with someone who does not share your opinion.

Première World War C, de Big Picture in 90 minuten…

Pathé Tuschinscki Amsterdam was gisteravond “the place to be” voor iedereen die meer wil begrijpen van de “Big Picture”. Een 1,5 uur durende documentaire van Nederlandse bodem ging voor een select gezelschap in première in de vorm van de sneak preview, omlijst door een kleurrijk programma, dat gehost werd door programmamaker Flavio Pasquino. Sietske Bergsma ging op pad met een cameraman om een mooie impressie te maken van de avond. Er wordt hard gewerkt aan de montage van de sneak preview dus heb nog even geduld…binnenkort is ie te zien.

Producent Jean-Jacques van Bemmel (Docsfair) en regisseuse Belgin Inal waren tot het laatste moment nog druk met de afwerking van de film. Belgin was zelfs zo druk dat ze geen tijd had voor interviews of pers tot op de avond zelf. Gelukkig kregen we de getalenteerde cineast wel nog voor de camera want Sietske was volhoudend bij de cameraschuwe filmmaker. Bijzondere gasten

Er was een select gezelschap aanwezig en dat had alles te maken met de beperkingen die de overheid heeft opgelegd aan zalen en bioscopen. Slechts 40 man mochten naar binnen in zaal 2 en dat oogde dus best een beetje leeg maar de pret was er niet minder om. Met een bonte club aan artsen, politici, burgerbelangenorganisaties en wetenschappers kon de 1,5 uur in alle rust bekeken worden. Naast reeds bekende mensen uit het kritische debat zoals Wybren van Haga, Gideon van Meieren, Bob de Wit en Jan Huurman slaagden de makers er ook in om vers vloed toe te voegen aan de film. Diverse mensen uit het Redteam waren te zien en ook Twan Houben was een verrassing. Laatstgenoemde gaf een boeiende interpretatie t.a.v. het roemruchte boek van Prof.dr. Klaus Schwab dat gaat over de Great Reset.

Evenwichtig verhaal

Wat wellicht het meest bijzonder aan de docu is, is dat het geen antivaxx film is en eigenlijk een heel evenwichtig verhaal. Zowel voor- en tegenstanders van het beleid en de vaccinatiestrategie kwamen aan het woord en daarmee is de film toegankelijk tot een breed publiek. Een echte aanrader dus om samen met iemand te kijken die jouw mening niet deelt.
